A Letter from former Seattle City Council District 7 Candidate, Jason Williams
Dear friends and neighbors –
With ballots expected to arrive this week, the race for Seattle City Council is again top of mind.
I will be voting for Jim Pugel and hope you join me. Here is why…
While both candidates talk about the importance of restoring good governance, and in urgently making progress on homelessness, affordability, and public health and safety, Jim is the best bet to deliver on this pledge because he has the relationships and experience to hit the ground running on day one.
What’s more, Jim consistently puts equity and inclusion at the center of his platform. He understands the need to urgently address racial inequity in the criminal justice system, education and career outcomes, and access to the city’s neighborhoods and parks. Jim has a record to back this up: he is one of the original founders of the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) program, which is hailed as a model for helping reduce racial inequity in bookings for low-level, non-violent crimes.
Finally, Jim has been unwavering in his commitment to parks and open spaces. He has promised to preserve and enhance existing parks, community gardens, and community centers for the benefit of future generations. Jim understands that connection to nature can inspire action on climate change.
As a bonus, Jim is the only other candidate to proactively talk about the value of arts & culture.
I’ll close by saying that, over the course of this last year, I have found Jim to be a genuinely kind and compassionate person, someone who will serve with integrity. He is skilled at building trusted relationships with a wide array of stakeholder groups and will use that skill to move our city forward.
Please join me in voting for Jim Pugel for Seattle City Council, District 7.
Thanks again for your generous counsel and support throughout the Primary.
Warm wishes to you and yours.
