Jim & his side kick

What makes Jim different? He doesn’t leave the hard work to anyone, he goes door to door campaigning with his dog, Pepper, by his side!

Honored to have the support and endorsement of the Washington Housing Alliance Action Fund. We can talk and talk and talk about the different strategies to solve homelessness — but the bottom line is, we will never solve this crisis until we invest in enough affordable housing options for the most vulnerable Seattleites to have a place to live, a roof over their heads, and a warm and safe place to sleep.

Thank you.

While doorbelling in Magnolia this weekend I stopped to watch folks launching and paragliding off south Magnolia bluff. Very quiet and cool just hanging there with perfect updraft. Someone wondered aloud ‘is this legal’. I didn’t see them getting pulled over! I left campaign fliers on their gear bags. ... See MoreSee Less

Visited and listened at the Magnolia Farmers Market this morning. Saw many supporters and recruited more. Signed an appreciation note for the vendors and farmers. Met with and listened to the 'MIQA Be Prepared Magnolia-Interbay-Queen Anne’ volunteers who will be a critical link between community members and our first responders after a disaster. You can look them up and learn more about their essential work at miqabeprepared.org/ — Seriously, their web site could save your life. As your Councilmember, I’ll do everything to ensure Seattle’s disaster response and recovery readiness is where it needs to be to keep us all safe. ... See MoreSee Less

Doorbelled 129 doors today. Surprised at how many people are involved and asking the tough questions. I like listening and offering our platform for housing, reducing gun violence, and public safety. This ‘guard dog’ stared me down for a minute but eventually allowed me to pass to talk to her owner. ... See MoreSee Less

Thank you Moms Demand Action - WA for an inspiring forum last night. Great event organized by committed moms, grandmas and survivors of gun violence. The point was clear: we have to meet with and LISTEN to, not just ‘talk to’ grass roots community organizations to reduce gun violence and support legislation proposed by the Alliance for Gun Responsibility.

Let’s all get on this. Today.

Today we remember. 18 years ago I was Assistant Chief at SPD. There was fear that the Space Needle would be hit as well.

Today we remember the nearly 3,000 mothers, fathers, children, pilots, flight attendants, law enforcement officers, first responders, and people just going to work who lost their lives. We will never forget these brave women and men, and their families. May they live on in our hearts, and may our communities grow stronger, together. #NeverForget #September11
